For three days in wintry Chicago, fifteen Joyland teachers attended the Promiseland Conference at Willow Creek Community Church. Through a series of jam-packed presentations, lively skits and rockin' praise songs, our teachers caught a vision for 'A New Day' in children's ministry, and returned with glowing faces and fresh ideas for effectively and lovingly expressing God's timeless gospel to our 80+ Joyland children.

Feb 19, 2006Youth Winter Retreat
Our Youth Retreat was held at the Wolf Mountain Conference Center from Feb 18-20. We started off the retreat with an intense snowfight! Then Teacher Daniel Kim shared with us God's word through many hilarious, and sometimes shocking examples (brownies with toejam anyone?) We also had our own skit time where we had a chance to be star actors/actresses for a day. It was a wonderful, packed retreat!

Our sisters & some of our brothers demonstrated that love is truly creative when they turned an ordinary Valentine's Day into a Day of Compassion. We visited elderly homes and homeless shelters throughout the Bay Area, bringing much laughter, joy and love to each of the various homes we visited.

The YA Game Night put the best and brightest from our Young Adult Department to work--to come up with the slowest falling paper product contraption. Through building crafty inventions, jump roping contests, and more, the YA had a memorable night of fun and fellowship.

Mar 4, 2006Young Adult Snow Trip
Our version of the winter olympics! The young adult department went up to the Sierras on a snow trip, for a day of downhill sledding and snowball melees. Plenty of powdery, chest-high snow!
