Jonah ran away from God because God's ways was not his own. He rightly knew God's character and God's heart, but that disrupted his own agenda. He wasn't interested in what God wanted, which was to lead these Assyrians to Himself; all he knew was what he wanted, and he throws a fit when he didn't have his own little way. Christians ought to take heed, as this astounding character of Jonah, in truth, has echoes in our own lives.
