Graduation Sunday for our college Seniors was preceded by a brief (but poignant) Mother's Day message through Exodus 2. The "conspiracy of love" perpetrated by the women--Moses' mother, his sister Miriam, and Pharaoh's daughter--defies a murderous authority and preserves and protects Moses' life. It's a picture of mothers' love we can all appreciate on this Mother's Day. However, it's also a picture of God's love (mirrored in Exodus 3) for each of us. It's a picture we can begin to imitate and aspire to in our own lives.
