At the age of 15, Pastor Ed Kang’s semi-delinquent life took a turn when he became a Christian, and God led him on a journey he never imagined. The only son of immigrant parents from Korea, he graduated from UC Berkeley and attended law school at Boalt Hall. He eventually left his law career to become a pastor.
After more than two decades of ministry, Pastor Ed Kang’s vision and drive remain the same: To build up a Christ-centered church that equips every believer and both engages and embraces the community around it. When he is not delivering intelligent and refreshingly relevant messages, overseeing various ministries, counseling people or training lay ministers, Pastor Ed Kang (or, "Pastor Ed" for short) can readily be found sharing a meal and some laughs with people, leading hikes through the Sierras or displaying his uncanny reverse lay-up in a game of basketball.
Pastor Ed’s wife, Kelly Kang, is every bit his match and complement. After working ten years as a software engineer in the Bay Area, she joined her husband in full-time ministry to more fully employ her gifts and passion to serve others. A gifted leader and counselor, Kelly is intimately involved in ministries throughout the church. But more than being just a competent minister, what really stands out is her caring heart for people. Together, Pastor Ed and Kelly Kang form a dynamic ministry duo.
