Praxis

Praxis is Gracepoint’s ministry to young adult singles and couples, working professionals and graduate students in our community. Praxis is comprised of several different “life groups.”
What is a Life Group?
We currently have several life groups meet on Sunday evenings at various homes. We built our life groups based on the following passages in the Bible:
Acts 2:43-47
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Ephesians 4:15-16
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
In Praxis, involvement in a life group is one of the most important ways to begin growing and continue growing as a Christian. A life group is a gathering of 15-20 people consisting of couples, singles, young and not so young. At a life group meeting, we eat together, study the Bible together and get to encourage and strengthen one another through sharing of life. Life groups provide a place for Christians to forge close relationships and to learn and grow. We do life together as well as invite others to join in on our fellowship.
Who can join the Life Group?
Currently each Life Group is formed with members of Gracepoint - Berkeley and Christians who have been regular attendees to Gracepoint Fellowship Church for at least six months and also have submitted a written testimony.
What is a Ministry Group?
We currently have 6 ministry groups in Praxis. Our ministry groups serve together in our various ministries which include Joyland, ImpACT, Elderly Care, Visiting Scholars Ministry, CSUEB (Cal State University East Bay) and a junior college campus ministry at Berkeley City College. A ministry group is a gathering of anywhere between 10-30 people.
