Seed That's Been Planted
Graduation Sunday was our last Sunday with the 6th graders before we sent them off to Element. Teacher Michelle gave a message about the importance of choices that we make. She used the illustration of two long lines diverging from one point. Each step that you take in one direction is a step away from the other direction. Ultimately, the decisions that you make each day all add up in the end. The challenge was given to stop and think before you make a decision, and do what would be pleasing to Jesus. The 6th graders went up after the message to sing "Your Love is Deep", and each of them received a frame with a big Joyland group picture, and pictures from different outings. It was touching to receive a scrapbook made by the kids, in which they wrote thank you notes to the teachers, and included various pictures. One thing that one of the girls wrote is: "My favorite verse is John 3:16 because it tells me that God loves me and if I believe in him I will not die but I will go to heaven to be with him."
I'm really thankful that all of these kids were able to grow up in Joyland, that each of them were able to make a salvation decision, and that the seed of the gospel has been planted in their hearts starting from a young age. I hope that they will remember and not forget all the fun memories that they've had, all that they experienced and learned, so that no matter where they are in the future, difficulties they may face, they can always find their way back to God.
